A R T I S T S T A T E M E N T

As someone who finds themselves a passenger often, I’m constantly observing the spaces and objects around me. Eventually, this observation grew into an admiration for certain materials or objects and their interactions with light and perspective. More specifically, the perspective in which I see them - and all of the distortions that come with it. These moments became inspiration for my pieces, where I replicate an object that I’ve seen, or attempt to create a similar experience when viewing my piece. This includes using various reflective materials, colors, textures, and motifs within my pieces. What tends to capture my attention with these ordinary objects is their reflectivity or the way they are composed within their environment, and I’m interested in creating my work in a similar way. Jewelry as a medium brings intimacy with the piece and the wearer, similar to the intimacy I feel when experiencing the visual phenomenon that comes from these observations. I aspire to continue translating the experiences and intimacy of my everyday life into pieces of jewelry, and I hope to inspire the viewer or the wearer how I become inspired myself, in the moment or with the design, oftentimes both.
